UPDATE (8:07 p.m./ET): CNN is now reporting that at least two are dead, including an 8-year-old boy, and more than 130 are injured as a result of two bomb lasts this afternoon at approximately 2:50 p.m./ET, near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. At least 17 of the injured are in critical condition in Boston area hospitals.

Ryan O’ Neal, 69, today admitted that he still carried a torch for the beautiful young actress, Ali MacGraw - now 71 - he fell for on the set of the film that made them both Hollywood stars. In the movie which is widely seen as the birth of the ‘chick-flick’, the pair played lovers who come from total opposite backgrounds and O’ Neal’s well-to-do father did not want his son to marry his true love. O’Neal recalled several scenes in the movie where he had the opportunity to kiss the MacGraw. He talked about how he believed she was his first real love, even though the two never dated. During the filming of the movie, MacGraw was married to film producer Robert Evans, so O’Neal couldn’t make any moves outside of the fictional setting. But it never stopped the actress from taking serious the romance on the screen with O’Neal. When asked about their amazing chemistry, she said: ‘First of all, he’s a great kisser, let’s start with that.’ ‘It’s a combination of somebody who’s incredibly sexy but funny. That’s just electrifying.’ ‘For me, I was stumblebum at the end of the day…I was so sad because her husband might be in town.’ Eventually, O’ Neal met and fell in love with Farrah Fawcett, but said on Oprah today that MacGraw has always been his obsession and truly was his first love.(x)

My paperback was in tatters I read it so often - my Aunt Mary took me to see the movie - Love Story may seem sappy now but I was a kid in northern Wisconsin and this book was East Coast, big colleges and students who fell deeply in love which I wanted for me…
